How is my Primary Care Physician involved?
Your Physical Therapist is one member of a team approach to healthcare and keeping you well. After your PT evaluates your condition, he/she will communicate with your physician. PTs send progress reports and updates on your plan of care to your physician. And, rest assured that if our Physical Therapists feel that you need something other than what they can offer, they will direct you to the appropriate member of your healthcare team. I don’t know . . . is Physical Therapy where I need to go? No problem, we are happy to answer any questions you may have. You are welcome to give us a call, or schedule a Free Discovery Visit to determine if Physical Therapy is the right place for you. Maybe you played baseball with your kids a couple days ago, and you’ve had a sharp pain in your shoulder ever since. Or you were working in the garden and pulled a muscle in your back, and it’s just not going away. Or you’ve been bumping up the distance on your daily runs, and now your knee and hip hurt so much, you have had to stop running all together…. When you are suffering from an ache, pain or injury, an evaluation with a Physical Therapist can be the best place to start. Did you know you can go directly to a physical therapist without a physician’s referral or prescription? This is called “Direct Access” What about my Insurance? Most insurances will cover physical therapy services by direct access. There are a few instances in which a referral/prescription is required to initiate physical therapy.
